Online Series: Spring Awakening: Dancing with Ease, Pleasure, and Excitement with Joy Cosculluela, RSME/MT

Mondays, March 10, 17, 24, 31, 2025 | 10 am-11:30 am PT | $120 for the series

“Movement is basic to all life. Imagine how exciting and alive you would be if your kinesthetic sense were to be heightened and cultivated beyond its present consciousness.” – Anna Halprin

Let’s welcome springtime by bringing more awareness to how we move and inviting ease, pleasure, and excitement to our dances.

Working with Anna Halprin’s kinesthetic approach and the Life-Art Process, we’ll explore gravity, inertia, and momentum through our dancing bodies. We notice how these forces shape us and how we can also shape them ourselves. What dances show up when we yield when we resist? What happens when we ignite momentum? How can a stretching dance release flow and energy?

We’ll use imagery to help enliven our range of movement. With curiosity, we’ll explore various movement qualities that open up fresh ways of expression.

What dances awaken you this spring, the season of rebirth?

We draw and write to integrate our experiences.

Open to all. No dance or art experience needed. Only a willingness to explore!

To get the most out of this online series, please prepare a comfortable space to move in with access to your online device. Also, have art supplies ready at hand for drawing activities, and paper and pen for journaling and creative writing exercises.

Please note: Tamalpa does not record nor permit the recording of any classes or workshops due to the sensitive and sometimes vulnerable nature of the work, and to protect student privacy.
