As spring arrives, we tune in to how movement is shifting and emerging through our bodies. Guided by somatic awareness, we practice Movement Ritual to feel the ground, connect with breath, and find supportive pathways in our bodies to transition from one movement to the other. Through dance explorations, we awaken movement impulses and play with shapes that are emerging. Drawing and writing enrich our dance experience, nourishing the creative energy inherent in all of us.
Movement Ritual is a structured sequence of movements devised by Anna Halprin that helps relax the mind, increase range of motion, flexibility, strength, and serves as a foundation for creative movement explorations. No dance experience required. Please create a comfortable space to move and drawing and writing materials on hand.
To get the most out of this online series, please prepare a comfortable space to move in with access to your online device. Also, have art supplies ready at hand for drawing activities, and paper and pen for journaling and creative writing exercises.
Please note: Tamalpa does not record nor permit the recording of any classes or workshops due to the sensitive and sometimes vulnerable nature of the work, and to protect student privacy.
