Fall Equinox (September 22 in the northern hemisphere), is one of two days during the year when the amount of daylight equals the amount of darkness. This date also signals the “official” start of autumn when we harvest the bounty of the Earth. In this class series, we will explore the theme of balance, both between the elements of light and darkness, and between ourselves and the Earth. Through dance/movement, drawing, writing and improvisation, we will consider how light and dark shape our Life/Art, and we will generate “scores” for connecting with the Earth outside of class time. Also, as a group, we will create a ritual celebration of the autumnal Equinox, which falls on our fourth class. Weekly partner and small group sharing will help build a sense of collaboration throughout the series.
Elisabeth Osgood-Campbell, MA, EdM, is a registered Expressive Arts Therapist who guides groups and individuals into the creative landscapes of their bodies and imaginations. A faculty member of Tamalpa Institute and the Co-Chair of the Research and Publications Committee of the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA), she presents internationally on the impact of movement on self-regulation and learning/growth across the lifespan. elisabethosgood.com
