“Just as the ancients danced to call upon the spirits in nature, we too can dance to find the spirits within ourselves that have been long buried and forgotten.”  Anna Halprin

If you could dance your transformation as a plant or animal, what would that be?

This workshop is open to anyone who is inspired by nature’s creative force as a potent metaphor for aliveness and change.

Like a caterpillar to a butterfly or a seed to a tree, participants will explore a personal “metamorphosis” through the lens of nature, embodied through movement, drawing, and writing.

Participants open their senses, activate creative expression, and honor their unique stories of transformation.

With nature as guide, we initiate the beginning stages with small movements and gradually open up to more expansive stages. What starts to come alive?  We pay attention to the middle stage where old structures change, essential for the creation of something new. How do we use the middle stage and its chaotic, yet vital energy to transform us into the next stage? What resource enriches our story?

We use the vibrant tools of the Life-Art Process to give meaning to our work: listening and responding to our physical, emotional, and mental states; somatic and expressive arts; holding space for what emerges without judgment, and opening to new possibilities.

Open to all. No dance or art experience needed. Only a willingness to explore!

To get the most out of this online series, please prepare a comfortable space to move in with access to your online device. Also, have art supplies ready at hand for drawing activities, and paper and pen for journaling and creative writing exercises.

Please note: Tamalpa does not record nor permit the recording of any classes or workshops due to the sensitive and sometimes vulnerable nature of the work, and to protect student privacy.

Workshops are for ages 18+ only and disability access is not provided.
