Art serves to illuminate the hidden, emergent, and ineffable dimensions of life, to stir the soul and awaken change in people. Art making links craft and creativity in ongoing experimentation and renewal in renewing our self and the world in meaningful ways. Leadership, when viewed as an activity concerning itself with evoking meaningful change in self and society, it is best practiced as an art drawing upon the art-making process described above.
In this four-part class series, we use the Life-Art Process to explore leadership as an art. We engage the artmaking process to enhance our leadership know-how in service of remaking our world so that we all can thrive.
About Ken Otter: For much of my adult life I have been exploring the landscape of human change in self and in society personally, professionally, and academically. What has emerged from this inquiry is the value art making and the creative process to navigating and orchestrating change in life and work. After more than 25 years in the field of leadership and more than 40 years working with the arts, I cannot think of anything more important to do than to help bring more leadership artistry into the world. In addition to my MA and Ph.D. degrees in the fields of human and organizational learning and change, I have a certification in coaching from Columbia University in New York.
