Online Series: Artfully Nurturing the Ribcage, the Vessel of Life With Joy Cosculluela, RSME/MT

3 Mondays: Jan. 20, Jan. 27, Feb. 3 | 10 – 11:30 AM Pacific Time | $90/series

As we step into the New Year, we come alive to the potent dances that live in our ribcage, the vessel of life. The ribcage, housing vital organs such as the lungs and heart, works not only as a protective framework but also serves as a conduit for breath, emotion, and vitality.

This workshop aims to heighten kinesthetic awareness, release creative expression, and spark transformation.

We’ll begin by grounding our bodies into the earth and tuning in to our breath. We’ll sense the cycle of inhalation and exhalation, the lifeblood of movement. We’ll explore dances of contracting, expanding, and shifting our posture in space. What images arise when we breathe, when we contain, release, and change our shape?

Tapping into the rhythms of the heartbeat, we’ll find our direct link to the energetic and emotional quality of the ribcage. We’ll explore our pulsing dances, the upbeat and the downbeat. We’ll notice how these forces evoke heavy and light states, energy, and emotion. If these dances could speak, what would they say?

At the end of the series we’ll put together our dances as an artful dedication to the life of the ribcage. Drawing and writing give voice to the unique stories that emerge from this vessel of life.

Participants will come away with resources that enliven their creative explorations for the new year.

Please have a comfortable space to move, and have drawing and writing materials on hand.

Open to all. No dance or art experience needed. Only a willingness to explore!
