This is the new year’s invitation to remember the body and rekindle creativity!
Working with Anna Halprin’s somatic movement approach, we tap into our body’s supportive structures, notice how we move in relation to gravity, and invite our curiosity to dance with the old and the new.
With kinesthetic awareness, we explore descending and ascending, standing, walking, and traveling through space. We listen and respond to effort, direction, speed, and range of movement. As we dance, we remember the aliveness in our nervous system, the aliveness in our bodily sensations, feelings, and imagination. Through drawing and writing, we integrate our creative expression and give voice to the story that wants to come forward.
We practice mindful ways of sharing our experiences, witnessing and being witnessed by others. Please have a comfortable space to move and drawing and writing materials ready.
Open to all. No dance or art experience needed.
To get the most out of this online series, please prepare a comfortable space to move in with access to your online device. Also, have art supplies ready at hand for drawing activities, and paper and pen for journaling and creative writing exercises.
Please note: Tamalpa does not record nor permit the recording of any classes or workshops due to the sensitive and sometimes vulnerable nature of the work, and to protect student privacy.
