The Tamalpa Training faculty will present a collective work, interweaving a Life/Art experience in exploring your personal “body mythology”. Uncover and explore autobiographical material through a body mapping process that connects you to the images and themes associated with different body parts. Exploring somatically, psychologically and creatively using movement, drawing, poetic narrative and vocal expression, you will unlock the life and the mystery of the body, part by part, as a way to meet themes and metaphors connected with your life experiences and aspirations for healing.
The week begins on Monday with Daria Halprin, Tamalpa Institute co-founder. Daria will guide you on an exploration of the spine and the metaphor of your posture in life using an integrated approach that incorporates movement, drawing and narrative. On Tuesday, Joy Cosculluela will guide participants to express the dances living within the shoulders, arms, and hands, tapping into impulses of holding on and letting go. Dohee Lee will shift the focus to your ribcase on Wednesday. Using an expansive range of breathing and voice techniques, along with somatic movement exploration, Dohee will lead you on a journey of breath practice and sound to create a new song. Thursday brings us to our legs and feet, and the path they have walked on the Earth. You will explore your path using visualization, drawing, and poetry guided by Natan Daskal. Culminating this series on Friday, Rosario Sammartino will lead you through a self-portrait process. A central question will be explored: Who am I becoming? The last session will focus on the integration of the week’s experience and the visioning of next steps.
Open to all. No dance experience needed!
